Transferring Your Driver License or ID to Alabama

If you are moving to Alabama from another state, please review the requirements below to ensure a smooth process.


Transfers from Another State.
    🆔 Current License or ID: Bring a valid out-of-state driver license or ID.
    ⏱️ Expired Licenses: If expired more than one year, testing will be required.
    🏠 Proof of Address: ALEA requires 2 Proof of Residence.
    📑 Identity Verification: ALEA requires Proof of Identity.
    🪪 Social Security Card: Must Verify Social Security Number.
    🎓 Under Age 19: Must provide acceptable school enrollment documentation
    ⭐ STAR ID Upgrade: Additional documents required for Real ID(STAR ID).
