Alabama Hardship Driver License

Hardship Driver Licenses are issued by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Applications must be submitted directly to the ALEA Hardship Unit.

⚠️ In-person applications are NOT accepted.

Begin your application through ALEA’s online portal.

Application Steps
  1. Visit the ALEA online portal at alabamadl.alea.gov
  2. Select "Suspended License Help" (center of the page)
  3. Choose "Apply for Hardship Driver License"
  4. Print the application (Form DL-22)
