CONSTRUCTION PLAN REQUIREMENTS

Residential Construction

• New residential construction and additions require structural plans prepared, signed, dated, and sealed by a design professional licensed in Alabama.
  • Possible exceptions: Detailed, non-engineered construction plans may be accepted for certain small additions, alterations/repairs, accessory structures, storage buildings, pole barns, porches, decks, and similar projects.

Non-residential Construction

• All non-residential construction requires plans prepared, signed, dated, and sealed by an architect and an engineer, both licensed in Alabama.
