The Baldwin County Council on Aging has launched a new weekly program designed to help local seniors feel more confident using their cell phones.

During yesterday’s Commission Meeting, the Baldwin County Commission approved an engineering services agreement with Volkert, Inc. to facilitate design upgrades for the Baldwin Beach Express II (BBE II) project along the northernmost 4.9-mile section of the corridor extending from U.S. Highway 31 to Interstate 65.

Baldwin County is sharing important information for voters as updated voter registration cards are delivered to mailboxes across the county in areas where changes to voting precincts were recently approved. These cards reflect precinct and polling location updates that took effect on January 20.

During today’s commission meeting, the Baldwin County Commission adopted the updated Baldwin Beach Express II (BBE II) Access Management Plan, a key step in supporting safe, efficient transportation and longterm strategic management of the proposed corridor. Today’s action marked another critical step in advancing progress of the corridor and compliments previous Commission action which authorized right-of-way acquisition along the southern portion of the corridor near I-10.

The Baldwin County Commission announces that 66 miles of roads were resurfaced and 3 miles of dirt roads were paved across Baldwin County in 2025. These annual paving efforts are critical to preserving and maintaining the County’s more than 1,400 miles of roadway infrastructure.

Beginning on, or around January 25, 2026, the United States Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Services (USDA - WS) will begin the distribution of approximately 222,600 coated sachet baits containing RABORAL V-RG® oral rabies vaccine (ORV) across a 4,158 square-kilometer bait zone in Southwest Alabama, targeting raccoons and other wildlife.
