History tells of the “stealing” of the Baldwin County Courthouse back in 1901, when a band of citizens entered the Daphne courthouse under cover of night to obtain county records and files, loaded them into a wagon and brought them to Bay Minette to proclaim it as the new and permanent county seat.

Fast-forward to today, when courthouse annexes throughout the county serve citizens more conveniently, some hearings and other official business are conducted via satellite, and many services are now provided online. Trials, however, are still conducted in the main courthouse in Bay Minette.

District Attorney Robert Wilters

The 28th Judicial Circuit was created in 1948 and there have been only eight district attorneys since then. Robert Wilters took office in January 2017.
